LaLiga continues its work with the European institutions

Harrie Temmink, Deputy Head of Unit 'Services of public interest' of DG Internal Market, Industry, SMEs and Entrepreneurship of the European Commission visits LaLiga headquarters.

Following the approaches and the work of LaLiga with the European institutions in various fields, Harrie Temmink, Deputy Head of Unit 'Services of public interest' of DG Internal Market, Industry, SMEs and Entrepreneurship of the European Commission, visited the headquarters of LaLiga to know its work closely. The community representative was received by Clemente Villaverde and Victor Martin, first and second vice presidents of LaLiga respectively.

Managers of the different areas of LaLiga explained the working models of the body in various fields such as integrity and security, fight against match-fixing, monitoring of betting market or the several measures taken by LaLiga inits fight against piracy. Temmink expressed his very positive impression for the work carried out by LaLiga in these areas.

This informal meeting also served to bring positions around different policies of interest to the world of Spanish professional football. Issues such as the single market, the future portability regulation, geoblocking restrictions of contents or the modification of the copyright directive were addressed. There was an exchange of views about the satellite and cable directive and the action to be taken against illicit practices in copyright issues.

Both sides expressed their willingness to continue cooperating in the future, with special emphasis on cooperation in the fight against match-fixing. In turn, the possible participation of LaLiga experts in future meetings in the environment of the European Commission on the performance of the Spanish organization in the fields of integrity and security and the measures taken against piracy was also assessed.

In this way, LaLiga will continue with this work of approach and influence in Brussels in relation to Community legislation that may impact on the professional Spanish football and its brand value.
