LaLiga and TikTok are revolutionising how people enjoy football

Users will be able to take part in the challenge with the hashtag #HolaLaLigaSantander and share their excitement about the new campaign

To raise the curtain on the new season, LaLiga has created the #HolaLaLigaSantander challenge via its official TikTok account, the largest short video platform in the world. As one of the biggest leagues in the world, it will embark on yet another season promoting passion for sport among the TikTok community with the aid of this challenge.


Football is one of the most popular categories on TikTok, with over 2 billion views for the hashtag #Football. Millions of users of all ages enjoy and share their love of football on this platform, uploading videos of matches or other more creative clips, such as videos of them playing football, all via the platform's video capture and editing tools.


The LaLiga account and its challenge will allow the community of over 300,000 football fans to access fun and inventive videos such as "Real Madrid’s rocket" and "Messi's night", along with other exciting content about football matches.


The launch of the new season


To celebrate the launch of the new season, TikTok users from over 40 countries can take part in the challenge on the platform, which kicked off yesterday. And they can do so with the aid of an interactive filter which will allow them to show off their skills doing headed keep-ups and compete against fans of other clubs such as FC Barcelona, Sevilla FC, Atletico Madrid, Cadiz CF, Real Madrid CF, RCD Espanyol and Real Zaragoza. 


"Being on TikTok is key for us as it allows us to reach millions of new users and continue positioning ourselves at the forefront of the entertainment industry. We're going to be able to show many more fans that we're the best league in the world, infecting them with our passion for football," explains Alfredo Bermejo, LaLiga's director of digital strategy. The popularity of TikTok has been on the rise since its launch focused on a younger audience, making it the most downloaded platform in the past year, captivating users of all ages and nationalities.


Meanwhile, Noel Nuez, TikTok's country manager for Spain and South America, assures: "Our collaboration with LaLiga is an excellent way of attracting football fans from around the world to TikTok to share their creativity and show their engagement with Spanish football."

 

The covers of videos uploaded onto TikTok by Spanish users demonstrate a real passion for creativity and diversity, from dancing to comedy, as well as art, fashion, makeup and sports, including football.


TikTok offers users the opportunity to create their own videos directly from their mobiles. Among the content creators related to football, it is worth highlighting the profile of Javi Freestyle, the Spanish freestyle champion, who demonstrates his passion for the sport on TikTok with his fun and energetic videos.
