LALIGA and the National Police and  organised a training day at San Mamés for security personnel working in professional football stadiums.

During the event, members of the LALIGA Security, Integrity and Emergencies Department, different units from the National Police and the Ertzaintza, the Spanish Red Cross and Plena Inclusión gave presentations on the safety of spectators at stadiums, high-risk groups linked to LALIGA teams, police arrangements at matches and first aid.

The various speakers emphasised that they were proud to be able to hold the ninth edition of the training day in a stadium such as San Mamés. The conference was a great success for those attending, who highly appreciated the training on an essential subject such as safety in football stadiums.

The desire to promote the social dimension of sport as an educator in values to ensure that it becomes a school of life and tolerance, especially for children, means that the training of security personnel who work in LALIGA stadiums is a priority. In order to achieve this aim, the provisions of Law 19/2007, of 11 July, against violence, racism, xenophobia and intolerance in sport were examined. We also studied some of the factors that indicate the polarisation of hate crimes which the National Police and the rest of the Security Forces and other bodies have to pass on to the judicial authorities in order to bring cases to prosecution.

Many of the violent acts that take place in football stadiums stem from groups of radical fans, which also entails understanding them and studying their dynamics and interactions, which is why research has been carried out on those that are most relevant.

Emergency services are another particularly sensitive area covered in the training day, as emergency first aid is sometimes required as quickly and specifically as possible, which is why a first aid class was developed.
