LALIGA and the Ibero-American Sports Council (CID) join forces via a collaboration agreement with the aim of working together to promote the development of sport in Ibero-American countries.
The initial three-year agreement focuses on education and training in the fight against racism, discrimination and hateful attitudes and behaviour in sport. This objective will be carried out through projects that raise awareness and condemn discrimination in all Ibero-American countries, and will be backed by influential sporting figures who will help to spread such messages.
The teaching of good values and the importance of inclusion in sport will also be reinforced through the creation of educational resources and materials that encourage these attitudes.
According to Sebastián Palacios, President of the CID, this agreement takes “another step in the construction of a safer, more diverse and egalitarian sporting environment in the Ibero-American region, free of any discrimination. It's an honour to embark on this journey with LALIGA, one of the world's leading football organisations that influences hundreds of millions of people”.
In the words of LALIGA President Javier Tebas, “the agreement with the CID allows us to further, among many other important matters, LALIGA's commitment of fighting to eradicate all forms of hate in sport. This is also an ambition we share with the Ibero-American Sports Council and we are sure it will be bolstered by this collaboration”.
Both organisations have also agreed to promote women's participation in all sporting fields and will organise activities to help achieve this goal. Additionally, good governance, transparency in management, the promotion of fair play, and the fight against piracy round out the agreement that will allow collaboration between the CID and LALIGA to help achieve the shared objectives of both organisations.
