In recent seasons, women's football has gone from strength to strength. In light of this, LaLiga and its Swedish counterpart, Elitfotboll Dam, one of the leading women's leagues in the world, have signed a memorandum of understanding with the core objective of improving the women's game in both countries.
This exclusive agreement is the first that LaLiga has signed with a professional women's league. Its main focus is to encourage clubs to play a pivotal role in the development of the sport, through which the clubs themselves will be the prime benefactors.
One particularly notable aspect of the link-up is the commitment to digitalisation as a part of the strategy to promote and expand the women's game. Other key facets of this collaboration include exchanging knowledge and experience through cooperation between both leagues, and staging events at which success stories can be shared. These will include group workshops, meetings, field trips and conferences.
In addition, both institutions will work together by organising events in clubes alike can share their knowledge and experience of training and football development.
Aside from the aforementioned, both parties will work together to develop educational activities and encourage corporate social responsibility. These will be designed to promote gender equality and the integration of women and girls into society through the medium of football.
