Kiko Casilla stands in Atlético's way

RCD Espanyol and Atlético Madrid drew 0-0 on matchday 27 in the Liga BBVA and as a result the Madrid side surrender third place in the table to Valencia and drop to fourth, on 56 points.

There were few clear chances in the first half and neither side was able to produce attractive spells of play. Nonetheless, Atlético were the better side and 12 minutes into the game Fernando Torres headed a free-kick from Koke at goak, forcing Kiko Casilla to save. Later on in the half, Antoine Griezmann shot just wide of goal. Just before half-time João Miranda was sent off following a clash with Abraham González, leaving his side with 10 men for the whole second half.

The clearest opportunity after the re-start fell to Raúl García, but again Casilla stuck out his hand to send the ball out for a corner. The goalkeeper made yet another save with just a few minutes to go, this time denying Arda Turan. The full-time whistle sounded just moments later and Espanyol earned a point against one of the strongest teams in the Liga BBVA.
