A point apiece
A final score of 0-0 means Granada remain in 17th place as they wait to see if their relegation rivals can do any better this weekend, giving them another point as they fight to remain in the Liga BBVA next season. Malaga, in the more comfortable reaches of the table, were happy with the stalemate as they added to their points tally for the fifth game running.
Andres Fernandez steals the show early on
The Granada keeper was forced into action right after the kick-off. A shot by Ignacio Camacho followed by a Duje Cop header meant Andres Fernandez needed to start the game with his eye on the ball. And the keeper was up to the task, producing two great saves. Had he not been as sharp, the entire game would have run a very different course with Malaga taking such an early lead.
A fast-paced, open game
It was an exciting game to watch, particularly in the opening 45 minutes, with the switching of the play and the chances created by both sides keeping the fans entertained. Granada's determination to claim the three points saw them put in an intense performance out on the pitch, whilst Malaga's quality up front gave us some moments to savour.
Success posed the biggest threat
Although Malaga had the best of the chances, Isaac Success had the clearest opportunity of the first half. He was through one-on-one with Guillermo Ochoa, but he pulled his shot too far across the face and was unable to make the most of it. He then had another one-on-one in the second half, which the Mexican keeper managed to save.
Memo Ochoa
It was the Mexican who kept Malaga in the game in the second period. Ochoa prevented a much more incisive Granada side after the restart from breaking the stalemate with a providential save against Success. Then, in extra time, he really dug deep to keep the scores level through to the final whistle.
