Coinciding with the 2016 European Championship, LaLiga held a meeting on Sunday 3 July at the Spanish Embassy in Paris, France, with several of its international television broadcasters. Present to welcome the broadcasters were Ramon de Miguel, the Spanish ambassador to France; Javier Tebas, president of LaLiga; Melcior Soler, director of LaLiga's audiovisual department; Jaume Roures, president of MEDIAPRO; and the LaLiga ambassadors Carles Puyol and Christian Karembeu.

Ramon de Miguel, the Spanish ambassador to France, was tasked with welcoming the guests: "It's a pleasure to welcome you to the embassy, Spain's home. Those of you gathered here are the people who build and create passion for football – LaLiga – and transmit that enthusiasm. Through these broadcasts we also transmit a part of ourselves, part of Spain," assured the ambassador.

"We want to be the best league in the world out on the pitch, but also the best in terms of how spectators watch Spanish football," said Javier Tebas, the LaLiga president, who made the most of the occasion to outline some of the new features and improvements LaLiga will be rolling out for broadcasts in the 2016/2017 season.

For example, seven aerial cameras will be in place to start with, and these devices will be available at every stadium in the future. Furthermore, the Santiago Bernabeu and the Camp Nou will both be equipped with 360-degree replay technology, while one game will be broadcast in 4K over the course of the campaign. "We have compelled the clubs to renovate their stadiums to improve the quality of broadcasts. The lighting, the facilities in general and the condition of the pitch, among other things, will be better. We have to give viewers the best possible audiovisual product," added Tebas, prior to wrapping up his address by thanking the broadcasters' representatives for attending and stressing that, "by walking hand in hand, we can be the best."

For his part, MEDIAPRO president Jaume Roures thanked the embassy and ambassador for welcoming LaLiga and the broadcasters, before explaining that, "We wanted to show you what we're going to do and improve on next season, because we have to keep working together as a team."
