UE Llagostera 2-0 R. Oviedo

Natalio Lorenzo's ruthlessness in front of goal overcame an Oviedo side whose challenge in the upper reaches of the Liga Adelante table suffered another setback. Llagostera, on the other hand, remain entrenched at the wrong end of the standings despite their victory, although they have closed to within four points of safety.

UD Almeria 1-2 Gimnastic

Nastic's promotion push continues. Their win in Almeria keeps up the pressure on pacesetters CD Leganes and D. Alaves, and reinforces their credentials as strong contenders to rise up to the Liga BBVA. Jose Naranjo – who opened the scoring with a beauty – and Xavi Molina were on target for the Catalans. Not for the first time this term, Nestor Gorosito's men were punished in the latter stages of the encounter, having drawn level through Ximo Navarro on the stroke of half-time.

CD Lugo 1-2 AD Alcorcon

As well as earning his team maximum points with a brace, David Rodriguez made history by becoming the club's all-time top scorer at this level. His heroics came in an evenly contested game against Lugo who, despite dominating possession and giving it their best shot, went away empty-handed on home soil. The Madrilenians, for their part, have once more moved to within striking distance of the play-off places with five matchdays to go in the regular season.

At. Osasuna 0-0 SD Ponferradina

Home goalkeeper Nauzet Perez stole the show in a tight affair, keeping proceedings goalless and ensuring that the spoils were shared. Ultimately the result did not totally satisfy either side, with both hankering after all three points in their respective bids for promotion and survival.

CD Tenerife 1-1 Elche CF

That man Nano drew first blood, producing a predatory finish befitting his status as his side's leading scorer. However, the Tenerife forward later spurned a golden opportunity to make it 2-0 when finding himself clean through on goal after a counter-attack, spooning his attempt over the bar. The visitors made the most of that let-off, equalising through Javi Noblejas, who turned the ball home in the 77th minute after Dani Hernandez had saved Sergio Leon's penalty. The point leaves both teams still in the mix for the play-offs to varying degrees.

D Alaves 2-1 R. Valladolid CF

Juli was in inspirational form in the match that kicked off Sunday's Liga Adelante action. The veteran playmaker set up both of his side's goals, which came courtesy of Manu Barreiro and Sergio Llamas, and was influential throughout as Alaves kept hold of second place for another week. Roger Marti levelled two minutes after the opener, but his effort was ultimately in vain as his team – desperate to seal safety as soon as possible – fell to defeat.

CD Mirandes 1-0 SD Huesca

Ion Velez's header did the trick for Mirandes, whose status is now nearly secure. It is a different story for Huesca, who remain in the thick of the battle to avoid the drop after they ended up with nothing to show for their exertions in what was an evenly matched game.

CD Leganes 2-2 CD Numancia

The league leaders had to exhibit plenty of fighting spirit to salvage a point against a potent Numancia side. The visitors twice had the lead and twice were pegged back. The deadlock was broken in the seventh minute, when Nacho spread the ball to Alexander Alegria, who fired across the keeper and into the bottom corner. The next goal did not come until the second half, David Timor's equalising free-kick taking a big deflection on its way into the net, but the Butarque faithful's euphoria was short-lived as Pablo Valcarce restored Numancia's advantage. The home team had the last laugh, however, Iñigo Ruiz de Galarreta making it 2-2 three minutes later.

R.Zaragoza 2-0 Bilbao Athletic

Zaragoza's purple patch shows no sign of stopping as they stretched their unbeaten run to five and climbed to fourth place thanks to this triumph over the basement boys. Manuel Lanzarote's lovely curler put the hosts in the driving seat in the 25th minute, and this was no less than they deserved for a commanding first-half performance. Athletic B took control of the ball in the second period and came agonisingly close to an equaliser, only to have the stuffing knocked out of them by Pape Maly Diamanka's strike.

Albacete 1-0 RCD Mallorca

Ruben Cruz's terrific glancing header was enough to earn victory over Mallorca and keep his side's hopes of a great escape alive. Chances went begging at both ends in the opening 45, setting the stage for someone to be a hero after the interval. Ruben it was who rose to the occasion in the 69th minute.

Cordoba CF 1-0 Girona FC

Cordoba recorded their first win since beating Huesca a few weeks ago, edging past direct rivals Girona to go eighth, just a point off the play-off spots.
