Ivan Cuellar (Mérida, May 27, 1984) became in his own right in the best goalkeeper in the 2014/15 Liga Adelante season. Real Sporting number "1" conceded just 21 goals in the 36 games he played, laying the foundation stone for the return of the Asturian club to Liga BBVA.
Reflexes, experience and leadership at the service of a very young team that closed the year with 21 wins, 19 draws and only 2 defeats after receiving only 27 goals (0.64 per game) to return to the top flight of Spanish football.
However, although the ending was happy, the season was not an easy ride for the Extremadura´s goalie. On 15 February, Cuellar was injured in Montilivi against Girona and he couldn't play the following six matches of his team in a key moment to keeping up options for promotion.
But he came back stronger. After returning to the "Rojiblanca" goal in matchday 32, he conceded only four goals in the last 10 games of the season, leaving a clean sheet up to seven times, putting his team closer to the awaited return of the "Gijonés" club to Liga BBVA, which eventually took place in the last matchday at the Benito Villamarin for the joy of 'The Mareona' that moved to Seville.
