Barcelona got the scoring underway against Granada CF. The Liga BBVA leader thumped the Andalusian outfit, which despite giving it a go throughout the match, was powerless against the attacking might of the visitors in Los Cármenes. Andrés Iniesta and Cesc Fábregas both scored from the penalty spot, while Alexis Sánchez and Pedro capped off the win from open play, thus ensuring that the blaugrana holds onto the top spot.
The man of the day was no doubt Carlos Vela. The Mexican striker scored four goals against Celta Vigo for Real Sociedad. In a cracking match, the Basque side managed to overturn the Galician’s two goal lead. Jagoba Arrasate’s men finished the day in the European places while Celta fell ever closer to the drop zone.
There was plenty of scoring in the Estadio de los Juegos del Mediterráneo as Real Madrid put a halt to UD Almería’s recent good run of results. On a down note, the match saw Cristiano Ronaldo having to come off after getting a knock on his left leg, which the Portuguese player confirmed after the final whistle. Ronaldo, Karim Benzema, Gareth Bale, Isco and Álvaro Morata all got on the scoresheet.
The closing encounter of the Liga BBVA matchday 14 action ended with Getafe having to swallow a 7-0 defeat. Atlético Madrid maintained an incredible tempo and created a countless opportunities against the visitors, who tried to counteract the Red and White intensity but was unable to find an appropriate response. Among the seven goals was a spectacular Diego Costa bicycle kick.
