UD Las Palmas have been promoted to the Liga BBVA after a 13 year absence following their comeback in the return leg of the playoff final at the R. Zaragoza stadium. The Canary Island side had to face up to a 3-1 defeat from the first leg, but goals from Roque Mesa and Sergio Araujo led them to a comeback. As such, the side joins Real Betis and R. Sporting as the new teams in the Liga BBVA.
