Sevilla are once again back in the Europa League final. They are almost part of the furniture now – this is the third year on the bounce that they have made it this far. Indeed, Unai Emery's charges not only know what it is like to play in a fixture of this magnitude, but they know all about what it takes to run out victorious. The club has featured in the final of the competition on four previous occasions and took home the trophy every time.
The Andalusians are raring to keep making history in this tournament. On this instance the final takes place in Basel, against a tricky Liverpool side who themselves have won the competition three times, back when it was still called the UEFA Cup. However, Sevilla are the holders and are fully intent on completing a three-peat by retaining the title.
En route to the final, Sevilla got the better of Molde, Basel, Athletic Club and Shakhtar Donetsk. Last but not least come Liverpool, against whom Emery will have to do without the influential midfielder Michael Krohn-Dehli, who will be replaced by Coke. Benoit Tremoulinas is also out.
The coach has taken 25 players along with him – in other words, the whole squad except for Krohn-Dehli, who went under the knife on 29 April. Emery wants each and every one of them to experience what is a most special occasion, the club's third Europa League final in a row. Liverpool, for their part, welcome back one of their own main men in midfield: Jordan Henderson.
The stage is set in Basel for what is guaranteed to be a gripping encounter between two teams with major European credentials.
