Early pressure
Bayern Munich had Atletico penned back in their area from the outset playing with the pace and confidence that comes from knowing you have won every home game in the Champions League this season. The problem was they ran into Jan Oblak, who was in sensational form.
Alonso freekick
The Slovenian saved point-blank from Robert Lewandowski after 21 minutes and soon after blocked a fizzing effort from Franck Ribery. The ball fell in the area and Oblak then dived to tip the ball away from the onrushing Lewandowski. There was little Oblak could do about Bayern’s opener, though. Xabi Alonso stepped up to take a freekick right on the edge of the Atletico area, and his low strike deflected off Jose Gimenez in the wall to put the Germans ahead on the night, level on aggregate.
Oblak saves penalty
Minutes later Gimenez conceded a penalty and Atletico looked in disarray. Thomas Muller took the spot kick but Oblak guessed right to save and then blocked the follow up to keep his side well in the tie.

Griezmann goal
Diego Simeone brought on Yannick Carrasco for Augusto in the second half and his side struck back to level the game quickly. Breaking away on a counter-attack, Fernando Torres fed Antoine Griezmann and the Frenchman scampered away to beat Manuel Neuer in the one-on-one. It was his seventh in the competition this season.
Lewandowski and Torres
Bayern kept pressing and finally punctured Atleticio’s defence again when Arturo Vidal headed Alaba’s cross back across the face of goal and Lewandowski nodded in from close range with 16 minutes left to play. It was another backs-to-the-wall perfomance from Simeone's men, who could have made life easier for themselves near the end. Torres was tripped in the area, and dusted himself off to take the spot kick, but Neuer guessed right and saved 'El Niño's' effort.
Atletico will meet either Real Madrid or Manchester City in the final in Milan on May 28.
