Getafe CF and Córdoba CF meet in the opening game of Liga BBVA matchday seven. The team from Madrid are playing their second consecutive match in the Coliseum Alfonso Pérez, where they beat Málaga CF 1-0 last week, and they will be hoping to get their season moving once and for all. They will be faced by an Andalusian side that travel to the capital hungry for victory, as they are propping up the table with just three points and no wins.
Team news
Getafe will have to make do without striker Álvaro Vázquez, who will be sidelined for three months after an operation on his dislocated left shoulder. For the visitors, the injured José Carlos and Eduard Campabadal are off the list. The good news for the Andalusians is Carlos Caballero’s return to the fold, after seven months of injury.
Views from the dugout
Getafe’s coach, Cosmin Contra, spoke about the importance of the match in a press conference: "We have to go out with the intention of beating Córdoba, leaving no room for doubt that we will win the match. It has to be another final for us; winning at home is important and it could be a turning point".
Albert Ferrer, the Córdoba manager, was hopeful, despite his words of praise for his opponents. "The team has improved a lot, they are more solid, but we have gained self-confidence. I am very happy and I’m optimistic: I think we could win any match", he stated.
