Real Betis Balompié, after sacking Pepe Mel on Monday afternoon, officially made Juan Carlos Garrido their new manager on the same day.
Having dispensed with the services of Mel due to a "need to change the dynamic of results", the team who are propping up the Liga BBVA table after 15 games, have announced that Garrido has been chosen to help the "team return to winning ways", according to a statement on the Betis website.
Juan Carlos Garrido, who has signed until the end of the season and will start work on Tuesday, has been without a team since September 2013 when he ended his spell as Club Brugge KV coach. It will be Garrido's second experience as a Liga BBVA coach after managing Villarreal CF for two seasons.
