Parity
The first few minutes stood out for their parity, although Malaga gave the extra push to take control. Krohn-Dehli had the clearest chance at the start, but his shot went over the post. Tremoulinas and Banega had dangerous approaches. Rosales, Wellington and Camacho gave their most for Malaga.
Malaga progression
Sevilla had several opportunities, but they bumped into Cameroon keeper Kameni. On their part, Malaga increased the pressure and improved their game as the minutes went by. However, this effort didn’t avoid Sevilla’s goals in the first half.
Gameiro
He was the man of the match for yet another game. He scored two goals again and this time he only needed two minutes to do so. Close to half time, when Malaga was in control of the match, a great assist by Rami got to Gameiro, who finished with a spectacular chip shot. In the 42nd minute it was Vitolo who crossed the ball from the right for the home striker to bury into the back of the net scoring the 2-0 at Sanchez Pizjuan.
Malaga reply
In the 70th minute Charles reduced the difference at Sanchez Pizjuan. The Brazilian striker scored his eighth goal of the season. Duda took the free kick, Wellington headed and Malaga’s number ‘9’ didn’t miss on Sergio Rico’s goal. 2-1 on the scoreboard.
Intense final ten minutes
Malaga pushed even harder after Charles’s goal and didn’t cease on searching for a draw. Sevilla didn’t want to relax and increased their intensity. Recently brought on, Iborra saw his second yellow card in the 82nd minute leaving the home side down to ten. For Malaga’s part, Boka also saw two yellow cards during stoppage time. In the end the score remained untouched, finishing 2-1.
