Sevilla took the game to Sporting, creating a number of chances, but the Asturians stood firm in the first half.
Sevilla pressure
Unai Emery's men played at a high tempo, and were very direct. After 33 minutes, Fernando Llorente had a good chance with a header but Pichu Cuellar was well placed.
Cuellar takes centre stage
Sevilla stepped up a gear after the break, pushing Sporting to the edge of their own area, and Cuellar came into his own making a string of saves. Sevilla laid siege, while Sporting were only able to theaten with the odd counter-attack.

Gameiro double
Gameiro finally made the breakthrough in the 75th minute after Sevilla were awarded a penalty. The Frenchman only just beat Cuellar from the spot, the Sporting keeper getting a hand to the ball but unable to prevent it crossing the line.
Gameriro netted his fifth of the season in the 80th minute, heading home unmarked at the back post.
