  • Lorca FC were formed under the name La Hoya Lorca FC only 14 years ago, on 1 June 2003. Since then, the club has shot up the divisions, from regional basement league Primera Territorial all the way up to LaLiga 1l2l3.
  • In July 2016 Chinese businessman Xu Genbao purchased all of the club's shares and the Murcian outfit was renamed Lorca FC. In what was the first year of Genbao's ambitious project, the club reached the second rung of Spanish football for the first time in its history.
  • After finishing first in Group 3 of Segunda B, the club sealed its passage to LaLiga 1l2l3 by beating Albacete in the playoffs. The clash was a tight affair, with the Murcians scraping through on away goals following a 1-1 draw on aggregate, thanks to Abel's strike in the first leg at the Carlos Belmonte. However, the club was unable to claim the prize for being the overall winner of the division, falling 4-2 on aggregate to Cultural y Deportiva Leonesa in the following round.
  • The club's home kit is a familiar blue-and-white striped shirt, with blue shorts and white socks.
  • Lorca FC's home is the 8,000-capacity Francisco Artes Carrasco, where CF Lorca Deportiva also play. The town's other club also celebrated promotion last season, rising from Tercera to Segunda B.
