- FC Cartagena were founded by Florentino Manzano in 1995 under the name Cartagonova Futbol Club.
- Cartagena play their matches at the Estadio Cartagonova, which has a capacity of over 15,000. It’s the second largest stadium in the region of Murcia and teams such as Bayern Munich, Atletico de Madrid, Manchester City and Borussia Dortmund have played friendly matches there.
- In their debut season in LaLiga SmartBank, 2009/10, the club enjoyed one of the best starts in the history of the competition. After 11 matchdays, FC Cartagena were still undefeated, with six wins and five draws.
- Rayo Vallecano’s current coach Paco Jemez managed FC Cartagena during the latter stages of the 2008/2009 season, helping the team reach the playoffs for promotion to LaLiga SmartBank.
- Pascal Cygan, Toche and Victor Fernandez are among some of the great names who have represented Cartagena.
