- The stadium is named after the Battle of Alcoraz (1096), which took place near where today´s sports arena.
- It was opened on January 16, 1972 with a match between SD Huesca and Aragon that ended with the “azulgranas” victory 2-1.
- The architect Raimundo Bambó Mompradé was commissioned to design and build this stadium thanks to José María Mur Coronas, club president at that time and main backer of the project.
- This is Huesca´s third ground after La Cabañera and San Jorge.
- In 2014, El Alcoraz lived its last great celebration. After the 1-1 first-leg against Huracán Valencia, Tevenet´s men were able to beat the team from Valencia 2-0 and achieved promotion to Liga Adelante.
