Make sure you keep an eye out for these five players over the weekend, as they could well be the headline-makers in their respective matches.

Mikel Oyarzabal (Real Sociedad)

La Real's breakout star has already scored three goals for the club at the tender age of 18 and is a constant menace down the left flank. He has shown maturity beyond his years in his nine appearances in the Spanish top flight so far, but this weekend he faces his biggest challenge to date in the shape of his first Basque derby against Athletic Club.

Antonio Adan (Real Betis)

The Betis goalkeeper has more than earned his place in this list on the strength of a string of brilliant performances. He has been in superb form for several weeks on the bounce now, and his team have reaped the benefits lately, picking up four points out of the last six available. A safe pair of hands between the sticks, he excels both at thwarting opposition players one-on-one and at dealing with aerial balls.

Denis Cheryshev (Valencia CF)

After joining on loan from Real Madrid in the winter transfer window, he hasn't taken long to impress Gary Neville. The left winger has plenty to offer Los Che, including goal threat. Indeed, he scored the winner in his first Liga BBVA appearance for his new club at Mestalla, securing Valencia's first league victory since Neville took charge.

Mateo Musacchio (Villarreal CF)

The Argentinian centre-back has returned from his injury stronger than ever. After several months on the sidelines, Musacchio has slotted back in seamlessly and is once more exerting his leadership at the back. It is no coincidence that since his comeback, Marcelino's side have gone 11 games unbeaten in the league, posting shutouts in eight of those matches.

Aymeric Laporte (Athletic Club)

The left-sided centre-back could play a pivotal role for Ernesto Valverde's team, who face the small matter of the Basque derby. These sorts of games are often evenly matched affairs that are decided by the smallest of details, which is why defensive organisation could prove crucial, with a clean sheet providing a perfect platform to win the encounter at the other end.
