Fede Valverde named LaLiga Santander Player of the Month for September

Fede Valverde has been voted the LaLiga Santander Player of the Month for September. The midfielder has started the campaign in scintillating form for Real Madrid, propelling Carlo Ancelotti's charges to produce an almost perfect start to the season.

The capital club have won all six of their LaLiga Santander 2022/23 matches and top the table, with Fede Valverde one of their standout performers, particularly in September.

Real Madrid won their three LaLiga Santander games this month and Valverde chipped in with goals in two of them. The Uruguayan scored the first of his team's goals in the comeback against RCD Mallorca on Matchday 5, and then went on to fire Los Blancos to victory in the derby against Atletico Madrid, netting the second goal in the 2-1 win away at the Civitas Metropolitano.

However, Valverde contributed much more than just goals in these wins, helping out in both attack and defence, which earned him the nod of the judges in the voting for the player of the month ahead of the other candidates for the award: Dani Parejo (Villarreal CF), Robert Lewandowski (FC Barcelona), Samu Castillejo (Valencia CF), Luis Felipe (Real Betis), Brais Mendez (Real Sociedad) and Nico Williams (Athletic Club). Valverde picks up the award following in the footsteps of Real Betis' Borja Iglesias, who snagged it in August.
