Real Madrid were crowned LaLiga Santander champions for the 33rd time thanks to their 2-0 win away to Malaga CF. This victory capped a great campaign for Zinedine Zidane's side in the Spanish top flight. Below, we run through some of the stats Los Blancos compiled en route to retaking the throne.
With a total of 106 goals, Real Madrid were the second-highest scorers in LaLiga Santander 2016/17. Interestingly, more of those strikes were netted away from home (58) than at the Bernabeu (48). Cristiano Ronaldo was once again the club's leading marksman, having notched 25 times in the league. He was followed by 15-goal Alvaro Morata and Karim Benzema with 10.
As the above figures attest to, Los Merengues showcased fearsome firepower again throughout the season. Indeed, for the first time ever, the capital club scored on every single LaLiga Santander matchday.
The Madrilenians' midfield also played a pivotal role in their title triumph. Toni Kroos was one of the players of the season across the division, justifying his status as one of the first names on Zidane's team sheet. The German was the champions' leading creative force, with 12 assists to his name in league action.
With 29 wins, six draws and just three losses, Real Madrid took the LaLiga Santander trophy back to the Bernabeu in style, writing a new chapter in the club's history in gold letters.
