Club Atlético de Madrid and RC Celta de Vigo drew 2-2 in one of the games on matchday 4 of the Liga BBVA. With this result the two sides remain unbeaten in the competition and have eight and six points, respectively.
The Vicente Calderón Stadium witnessed an exciting first half in which the visitors started very strongly, taking the lead with a superb back-heel goal from Pablo Hernández on 19 minutes. But Atlético were unperturbed and threw everything at the opposition box in search of the equaliser, finding their reward on the half hour of play. It was João Miranda who levelled the match from a set piece, in which Koke linked up to perfection with the Brazilian centre back. Just ten minutes later, in the 41st, the Rojiblancos managed to turn the game around with a great header from Diego Godín off a corner taken by Gabi.
The frenetic pace continued unabated in the second half. Nolito, who went on after the break, converted a penalty in the 53rd minute to level the score again and breathe life into the Galician side. At 2-2 it was a totally open game, with Atlético dominating and working hard to claim the winning goal, while Eduardo Berizzo’s team dug in and only risked the odd counter-attack. The score remained the same and the teams shared the spoils at the Vicente Calderón Stadium.
