Just 24 days since its inception, the Blanc-i-Blava Chinese Worldwide Supporters’ Club has provided irrefutable proof that the LaLiga frenzy is on the rise in China. Under the slogan 'Improving health and connecting culture between China and Spain', this supporters' club based in Barcelona is RCD Espanyol’s latest bridge for forging bonds with the Asian community.
"There are not many of us fans yet, but we are preparing more and more activities to enjoy the team and the Liga BBVA: friendly matches, visits to the RCDE Stadium, live matches, buying tickets from China, international exchanges..." the president of the supporters’ club, Weimei Ye, explains with pride.
His favourite Espanyol player is the captain Javi Lopez and he assures us that he never misses a game. His mission now is to sign up as many fans to the supporters’ club as possible so it can keep growing and spread the passion for the Blanquiazules around the world rightfrom the heart of Barcelona. On 8 February, to usher in the Chinese New Year, they staged a performance of the dragon dance on the pitch at Espanyol’s home ground.
With the tycoon Chen Yansheng taking over the club presidency, Espanyol have increased their activities in the Asian country and hope to continue to do so by adding new elements of Chinese culture. With fans like these, the future of the Liga BBVA is guaranteed.
