Esnaider appointed new Getafe coach

Getafe CF have appointed Juan Eduardo Esnaider as their new coach after parting company with Fran Escriba on Monday. The Azulones moved to change their coach after Sunday's 2-0 defeat away to Villarreal CF.

Former Real Madrid player Esnaider, 43, was part of the Getafe coaching staff during the 2009/10 and 2010/11 campaigns and returns with one over-arching objective: to secure the club's top-flight status in the Liga BBVA.

Getafe have lost their last two games and have failed to pick up all three points since January 17, when they triumphed 3-1 at home against Espanyol. The side lie 19th in the standings, two points from safety with six games left to play. Esnaider's first game in charge is at home to Real Madrid on Saturday.
