There is great excitement and satisfaction at Ipurua this week. After their latest triumph against Levante UD, SD Eibar moved on to 36 points - one more than the 35 they ended last season on - representing the club's highest points tally in their short time in the Liga BBVA.
With Jose Luis Mendilibar at the helm, it has taken Eibar just 24 games to better last season's overall points total. The Basques, who only gained promotion to the top flight for the first time in the club's history last season, currently sit in the European qualification spots in sixth with 14 games left to play.
Under the experienced Mendilibar the side have recorded 10 wins and six draws, and have hopefully ensured that this time round there will be no relegation battle at Ipurua. Last season, after an impressive start to their debut campaign under Gaizka Garitano when they finished the first half of the season in eighth place, they had slipped into the relegation battle by the season's finale. This time round, the Eibar faithful are daring to dream of Europe.
