Deportivo beats Rayo at Vallecas

Celso Borges and his romance with Vallecas

RC Deportivo midfielder seems to feel like a fish in water on Rayo´s ground. Last year scored two goals at Vallecas, in which was his first game with the "Coruñés" shirt, and this time he scored again with a great header to put the 0-1 after seven minutes.

Rayo's reward

Despite the early goal, Rayo did not collapse. The "Vallecanos", true to form, stayed with the possession and started the siege to Deportivo´s area until they found reward in the 27th minute. Patrick Ebert made a dummy and let pass the ball through his legs to reach Adri Embarba, who stood before Germán Lux and score masterfully to make it 1-1.

Quick response

The joy was short-lived for locals, because the Galician side responded immediately. A minute later from Embarba's goal, the team led by Victor Sánchez del Amo regained the lead with a tight shot to the near post by Luis Alberto.

Lucas Perez, omnipresent

Deportivo striker was a constant threat to his former team. Not only created danger in attack, but also contributed to defensive duties being the first player to press the ball in rival´s field. He rounded his big night in the 61st minute by scoring the 1-3, a goal that he decided not to celebrate in front of his former supporters.

Defensive solidity

Once the 1-3 was achieved, Deportivo could defend its advantage with solidity. Ebert sending off in the 77th minute left Rayo outnumbered and with the match uphill for the "Vallecanos". Thus, the Galician team finally took the three points at the Vallecas Stadium.
