Promoted CF Reus are proving no 'flash in the pan' on the pitch after taking five points from a possible nine in their first three matches in LaLiga 1l2l3, while off the pitch, they have impressed opponents and fans alike with their sportsmanship.
After earning a point at Getafe last weekend the club put out a tweet which seemed to sum up their down-to-earth approach.
Gracias por todo, @GetafeCF ! Seguimos aprendiendo de grandes como vosotros! Mucha suerte! Nos vemos en #Reus pic.twitter.com/Q7IzPoTerE

(translation: Thank you for everything, Getafe CF! We continue learning from great clubs like yourselves. Good Luck! We'll see you in #Reus)
The club from Reus near Tarragona in Catalonia are still on a high after securing their place in the second tier of Spanish football for the first time in their 107-year history. Natxo Gonzalez’s side were handed a tough run of games to start the adventure but their largely unchanged side from last season have negotiated them well.
They started out with an opening day 1-0 win at RCD Mallorca, when Alberto Benito grabbed a 90th-minute winner. Their first home game was against a side expected to be challenging for a promotion playoff place, CD Mirandes, who they held to a 1-1 draw. Last weekend, they visited Getafe CF, a team recently-relegated from LaLiga Santander, and as against Mirandes, they took the lead but were held to a 1-1 draw.
After three rounds of matches they lie seventh in the 22-team standings, the highest placed of the four promoted clubs, and only two points behind leaders R.Zaragoza.
“We didn’t expect to have nine points at this stage," Gonzalez said after the Getafe game. "You look to medium-term objectives when you know you have such a tough start, and see what happens. We have responded well and we’re boosted by the results from our first three games. We’re new and we’re adapting.”
