Cristiano Ronaldo furthered his already legendary reputation by picking up the first-ever Best FIFA Men's Player award. Real Madrid's Portuguese striker picked up the prestigious award for being the 2016 FIFA player of the year following a vote by national team captains, national coaches, members of the press and fans.
The Real Madrid man was the star of the ceremony at Zurich's Congress House where he received the award in recognition for his outstanding year for both Los Blancos and the Portugal national team.
Cristiano Ronaldo lifted the 2015/16 Champions League with Real Madrid and was the tournament's top goalscorer with 16 goals in 12 appearances. Before the new season kicked off, the striker helped his club win the European Super Cup. On top of that, he also captained Portugal to their first-ever major international trophy when they beat Antoine Griezmann's France to lift Euro 2016.
Cristiano Ronaldo now picks up where he left off at the end of 2016: picking up an individual award that recognises him as last year's best player. Barely a month ago, the Portuguese picked up the fourth Ballon d'Or of his career. With this first-ever FIFA Best award, he now aspires to furthering his reputation with his goals, his talent and his competitive nature in LaLiga Santander.
