SD Eibar brought the curtain down on their Stateside tour with a showpiece clash against illustrious American opponents, the New York Cosmos. The stands at the Sam Boyd Stadium were awash with supporters of both sides, who came together to generate a fine atmosphere.
One man taking his place in the stands was LaLiga's country manager for the United States, Raul Gonzalez Blanco. The former Real Madrid star thoroughly enjoyed the game and later commented that "Spain boasts the top teams, the best players and some very good coaches." Raul went on to express his desire to see Eibar return to the US in the near future: "I hope to see them back on American soil again soon, so that they can continue to enjoy themselves and give people a good time."

On the pitch, things really couldn't have got off to a better start for the Armeros, who put themselves in the driving seat courtesy of strikes from Gonzalo Escalante and Antonio Luna. However, the Cosmos levelled things thanks to a Yasmani Duk brace, which took the game to a penalty shoot-out. Upon collecting his Man of the Match award, the New Yorkers' goalscorer beamed: "We had what it took to turn the game around."
From an Eibar perspective, defender Luna sought to take the positives from the game. "We were out there playing football, doing what we enjoy most. We've got a great group of players and we've had a good time."
This clash marked the end of Eibar's first appearance at the #LaLigaWorld event, during which they've spent time in New York, Philadelphia and Las Vegas. Right throughout their stay in the US, the Armeros have received countless shows of support from the various locally based Basque associations and the Peña Eibar USA supporters' club.
