Sevilla FC defeated Rayo Vallecano 0-1 on the 25th matchday of the Liga BBVA. It meant the Andalusian side got back to winning ways after six games without a victory, while Paco Jémez remain on 20 points in the relegation zone.
Both teams went out onto the field with good intentions that they failed to fulfil, with barely any chances on goal in the first half. Twenty minutes in, Tito managed to get past the home side with a shot that the keeper failed to clear. Nico Pareja responded soon after with a low drive that whistled past the post.
In the early stages of the second half came the best moments from both teams, though Sevilla went out with more intensity and Coke headed in an Ivan Rakitić free kick to score for the visitors. Rayo tried to respond, but the Andalusians defended well and came close to sealing the match with a second score. With this result, Unai Emery’s side bagged a 0-1 victory in Vallecas that moves them close to the European spots in the Liga BBVA.
