Time is ticking for Córdoba CF and Elche CF. The teams, which both find themselves occupying the bottom half of the table, face off for matchday 31 of the Liga BBVA. If the Andalusians win they would climb out of last place, while a victory for the Alicante outfit would move them further away from the drop zone.

To add to already-confirmed absence of Iago Bouzón, Córdoba will also be without the suspended Daniel Pinillos and José Ángel Crespo for this game. The good news for the visitors is that they have all their important players available. Not making it into the squad for this encounter are Pelegrín, Rafa Gálvez, Rodrigues, Samuel Martínez and Franco Fragapane.

José Antonio Romero exuded confidence in his pre-match press conference: "We can beat Elche". To back up his declarations he pointed to the players in his squad and the team’s eagerness to remain in the Liga BBVA. "We are at a stage in the season in which we are trying to block out any kind of negativity, change the mind set and the team are now in top form", he proclaimed.
His counterpart on the Elche bench, Fran Escribá, stated that his players are not looking behind and are only focused on beating their upcoming opponents: "We have reacted well after the Getafe CF win because now we have another important fixture coming up against Córdoba".
