Islanders in control
UD Las Palmas controlled proceedings right from the off. The Canary Islanders stopped Eibar from playing their usual game as the visitors fashioned the clearest chances. Asier Riesgo was on hand on several occasions with some superb saves to prevent the away side from taking the lead. Despite Eibar's pressure, Las Palmas kept the ball well and went in at half time in the ascendancy.
Wakaso
Wakaso, who was a constant thorn in the hosts' backline, was the key man for the Islanders. Most of the visitors' best play came down the left flank where the Ghanian caused no end of problems with Riesgo called into action on more than occasions to keep the winger at bay. William Jose also had a clear chance which he was unable to convert. Jonathan Viero injected pace into the visitors' play in a fine individual performance.
Goal on the stroke of half time
Going into injury time at the end of the first half, Pedro Bigas struck to put Las Palmas ahead. Bigas, with what was his first goal as a Las Palmas player, was on hand to head home from a corner to put the visitors in the driving seat.
Eibar pressure
It certainly wasn't for a want of trying from Jose Luis Mendilibar's side. Throughout all of the second period the Basques were knocking on the door but they found Javi Varas and the Las Palmas backline in fine form. The home side tried to change tact with the introduction of Adrian Gonzalez it didn't make any difference to the scoreline.
First away triumph
This win sees Las Palmas pick up their first three points on the road this term. Up until tonight Setien's men had only recorded three points on their travels (courtesy of draws against Valencia CF, Athletic Club and RC Celta).
