FC Barcelona once again etched their names into the LaLiga Promises history books as they captured the trophy for the 12th time at Villarreal CF’s Pamesa Training Ground.

The competition proved to be fiercely contested and the Azulgranas certainly didn’t have things all their own way, but their class ultimately shone through as they ran out 3-1 winners over a Valencia CF side who enjoyed a sensational tournament.

José Alfredo struck to put the Blaugranas in front in the showpiece, only for David to level matters for the Valencians. However, efforts from Gifre and Hugo sealed victory for the fledgling Barça youngsters, who were able to celebrate their triumph in front of the hundreds of Barcelona fans in the stands.

Semi-finals

The semi-final action kicked off at 10:00 (CET) as Valencia and Real Betis went head-to-head. The two sides had proven themselves to be very solid outfits en route to the last four, although the Sevillians had to negotiate a penalty shoot-out to seal their spot in the semis.

After an even opening half, Valencia hit the front following a corner from the left and the Che held on to their lead to become the first finalists in this prestigious LaLiga Promises tournament.

The second semi-final served up a mouth-watering Catalan derby. Barcelona and RCD Espanyol had already locked horns in an extremely hard-fought group-stage contest that ended goalless and the two sets of players went all out right from the first whistle as they renewed acquaintances.

The Pericos got their noses in front, but Barcelona hit back right at the start of the second half. Whilst chances came and went at both ends, Barça regained their lead when Marc Martinez conjured up an exquisite flicked finish. The Blaugranas then made sure of their place in the final with a third goal that came following a strike from the edge of the area.
