Atlético de Madrid’s second day in Japan has once again shown the pull that the ‘rojiblancos’ have in the Asian country. The day kicked off with an intense training session, in which tough fitness work was mixed with ball work. Diego Simeone’s players trained for two hours on the Saga Athletic Field pitch, continuing their pre-season preparations during the LFP World Challenge tour.
After training, the ‘rojiblancos’ received a very special visit. A hundred local children, most of whom belong to the Sagan Tosu football academy, shared ball and pitch with various players from the Atlético de Madrid squad. Griezmann and Oblak showed a lovely side with the kids who won’t forget the experience. Neither will the ‘rojiblanco’ players, as Yannick Ferreira Carrasco, one of the new faces in this Atlético de Madrid side, confessed to LaLiga.es: “The welcome has been fantastic and I hope there are a lot of people at the stadium tomorrow and we play a good game.” The day for the youngsters ended with the giving of gifts and signing of autographs, where Fernando Torres was once again one of the most sought out players.
This afternoon LaLiga and Atlético de Madrid will take part in an official reception at the Saga Prefecture. At the same time, at the team hotel, Diego Simeone will appear in a press conference previewing the match which will see his team take on Sagan Tosu tomorrow (12:00 CET). Later on, the ‘rojiblanco’ players will have a training session that will be open to the public, with their minds firmly on the LaLiga World match that they’ll play on Saturday.
