Villarreal 3-2 Athletic Club

A match not for the faint hearted. The best Three Kings Day gift for the fans of Athletic Club was the victory of his team. And for all football fans, the match. Leo Baptistão and Samuel put Villarreal ahead on the scoreboard. Marcelino´s men went to the half time break with a two-goal lead. And with all the second half ahead. And the comeback from Valverde´s side. Williams, Aduriz and Laporte turned around the scoreboard. 3-2 and everything to be resolved at El Madrigal in the second leg to be played on 13 January.

Valencia CF 4-0 Granada CF

Goals, goals and more goals. Granada CF conceded up to four goals against Valencia CF at Mestalla. Negredo was the man of the match. The Valencia´s striker made a hat-trick. The first goal came in the 8th minute after a steal of a ball by the striker from the Granada defense. The other two goals from Negredo came from the penalty spot. Rodrigo, who scored the second goal for Valencia, was the other scorer of the match. Gary Neville´s team is very close the quarterfinals of the Copa Del Rey.

CD Mirandés 1-1 RC Deportivo

One of the most evenly matched games of this Copa Del Rey round. The team led by Victor Sanchez was in a very tight spot at Anduva. Carlos Terrazas´ team took the lead on the scoreboard and controlled the first 45 minutes. Alex Ortiz scored the first goal for CD Mirandés. The Rojillo player topped to the far post a good cross from the side. The equalizer for Deportivo came after the break. Lopo, also with a header, finished off a corner kick. Riazor shall decide the tie.

R. Betis 0-2 Sevilla FC

After the goalless draw in Liga BBVA, Pepe Mel and Unai Emery faced again in the Cup. This time, Sevilla took the victory. Krohn-Dehli, in a great solo run, went into the box to beat Dani Jimenez. Sevilla went ahead on the scoreboard. At the very beginning of the second half, Unai Emery´s team increased their advantage. Krychowiak took advantage of a scramble in the area to score the second and final goal. Real Betis must overcome at the Sanchez Pizjuan if they want to be in quarterfinals.

FC Barcelona 4-1 Espanyol

Another Catalan derby in less than a week. The last Liga BBVA game ended with a draw 0-0 at the Power8 Stadium. Espanyol struck first. Marco Asensio´s counterattack ended on the boots of Caicedo, who beat Ter Stegen after a good technical gesture. But Messi appeared. The Argentine turned around the scoreboard. His second goal from a superb free kick. Later, Neymar and Pique established the final 4-1. Moreover, Arda Turan and Aleix Vidal debuted as Blaugranas. The next 13 January both teams will return to see their faces.

Rayo Vallecano 1-1 Atlético de Madrid

The third derby of the day. This time, in Madrid. And with Kranevitter and Augusto. Both players made their debut with the shirt of Atletico Madrid. The first half was fairly even. Until Nacho showed up. The Rayo footballer grabbed a powerful shot from outside the area to which Moya could do nothing. After the break, Atlético de Madrid sought for the equalizer. And Saul found it. Another Colchonero powerful shot after good play from Vietto, gave the draw for Diego Pablo Simeone´s team. On 14 January, the tie will be decided at the Vicente Calderon.
