Asier Garitano named Liga Adelante Manager of the Month for January

CD Leganes have made the best possible start to the new year and are yet to taste defeat in 2016 to the delight of their supporters. Four wins and a draw have seen the club soar into second place generating an atmosphere of real excitement.

The team's recent performances have been scintillating, mainly thanks to the endeavour of manager Asier Garitano. The Basque (6/12/1969), who has been developing a solid basis at the club since taking over in June 2013, picked up the BBVA award for Liga Adelante Manager of the Month, while midfielder Alexander Szymanowski was named best player, reflecting outstanding individual and collective displays throughout January.

This accolade, which is awarded by BBVA, the competition's main sponsor, and voted for by the LaLiga.es writers, recognises the stunning progress made by a manager whose team is aiming for the very top with league leaders D. Alaves just three points ahead of Garitano's side.
