The 22nd LaLiga Promises International Tournament in Arona kicked off today, Wednesday, with 12 games packed with excitement and top quality football. We bring you the low-down on day one of the Under-12s tournament.

Group A

Villarreal CF started their run in LaLiga Promises on a high note, dispatching the mighty AS Roma 4-0. FC Barcelona were next to demonstrate their strength with a 3-0 win over Deportivo Alaves.

The Vitorian outfit also failed to overcome Roma in the afternoon, despite opening the scoring. The Italians staged a comeback to win 2-1 thanks to a brace by Alessandro Pellegrino. The matchday drew to a close with the clash between Barça and Villarreal, with Los Castellonenses coming out on top courtesy of a Juan Enrique strike.

Villarreal ended the matchday top of their group. Barcelona sit in second place ahead of the two matches on Wednesday: their game against Roma and the match between Alaves and Villarreal.

Group B

Two European football giants in the form of Paris Saint-Germain FC and Juventus FC were tasked with playing the tournament opener and the game ended all square with a goal apiece. In the afternoon session, the Italians claimed their first win of the competition and a place in the quarter-finals with a 1-0 victory over Atletico Madrid. Los Rojiblancos will have the opportunity to go through to the next round in their match on Wednesday against PSG, with the Paris outfit also playing for all or nothing.

Group C

In the morning, Borussia Dortmund and RCD Espanyol went head to head but the game ended goalless. Then in the afternoon, the Catalans put three points on the board with a 1-0 win over Sevilla FC, guaranteeing them a place in the next round. Sevilla play Dortmund on Wednesday, with a quarter-final place up for grabs.

Group D

Real Madrid made the perfect start to the tournament with a 3-2 win over Valencia CF and were victorious again in the afternoon, beating FC Internazionale Milano 1-0.
