Antoine Griezmann named April's Liga BBVA player of the month

For Antoine Griezmann, April was the kind of month that every forward dreams about. The Frenchman scored eight goals in six Liga BBVA matches to help leave his team, Atlético Madrid, with a firm hold on third place in the Liga BBVA. Griezmann found the net twice each in the games against Málaga CF, RC Deportivo and Elche CF.

The haul has led him to be named as the winner of the BBVA Award for 'Liga BBVA Player of the Month', an accolade chosen by the writers at LFP.es and presented by BBVA, the league’s main sponsor. Los rojiblancos’ number '7' also won the prize in January after scoring five in the division. Once again, Griezmann’s figures underline the fine campaign he is enjoying: his tally of 22 league goals outstrips his previous best, set last term at Real Sociedad, by six.
