Anoeta proves the toughest nut to crack for Barcelona

The Catalan giants haven't won at Real Sociedad since the 2006/2007 season, when strikes from Iniesta and Eto'o sealed a 2-0 away triumph.

For the last time that Barcelona emerged victorious from Anoeta, we have to go back to 5 May 2007, when goals from Samuel Eto'o and Andres Iniesta handed the visitors victory. Almost nine years on and the Catalans haven't managed to come away from San Sebastian with all three points since that day. This weekend sees Luis Enrique's men given the opportunity to put that right.

Barcelona's record from their trips to Real Sociedad across the last five seasons reads four Liga BBVA defeats and one draw, plus one Copa del Rey reverse.

After promotion to the Liga BBVA in 2010, La Real have turned their Anoeta home into an impregnable fortress when Los Azulgranas come to town, with the Basques successfully managing to nullify all of Barcelona's attacking threat. Barça come into this one on the back of defeat to Real Madrid, a reverse which put pay to their 39-game unbeaten streak.

In the 2010/11 campaign - Real Sociedad's first back up in the Liga BBVA - the Basques ran out 2-1 winners, whilst in the following season, Barcelona claimed a point in a 2-2 stalemate. The Catalans once again left Anoeta empty-handed in the 2012/13 campaign, finding themselves on the wrong end of a 3-2 scoreline. In the subsequent two seasons, Barcelona succumbed to two further defeats, losing 3-1 in 2013/14 and 1-0 last time round.

This weekend sees Los Blaugranas return to a stadium where they've failed to pick up maximum points in almost nine years as Barcelona bid to pick up the three points that have eluded them for the last five seasons.
