Ambition, evenness and a share of the points between Sporting and Recreativo

The points were shared in the game corresponding to matchday 30 of the Liga Adelante between R. Sporting and RC Recreativo that ended in a 1-1 draw. Miguel Ángel Guerrero put the home side ahead, although Antonio Domínguez drew level soon after in a game that had a very frenetic last few moments.

R. Sporting took control of the ball as soon as the game had got underway, although they were not able to make their dominance count. The home side pressed against a good Recreativo side, who were very tight at the back and had options to launch dangerous counterattacks. Howver, it was the Gijón side who opened up the scoring in the 18' minute, Guerrero took advantage of a great long ball to give his side a 1-0 lead. The joy would not last long for Abelardo Fernández’s men as in the 25', Domínguez got an equaliser with a goal resulting from a good shot at the edge of the area.

The second half followed the same pattern. Sporting controlled the ball, however inaccuracy and nerves prevented the home side from creating dangerous chances. Recreativo, aware of the importance to get a point, held on at the back in order to try and take advantage of any chances in attack. Álvaro Antón had the clearest chance in the 65' minute with a free-kick that hit the post. Despite everything, the Asturian side attacked with greatest insistence in the final moments of the game, however, without luck. In the end the points were shared in the game at El Molinón.
