Jony scores goal number 600
The opening exchanges produced a flurry of action in both boxes, but an early breakthrough proved elusive. It was fast-and-furious stuff, but goals were hard to come by until Jony popped up in the 31st minute. The ball reached the R. Sporting winger on the edge of the area from a corner and he let fly, his strike ricocheting off an RC Deportivo defender before looping into the net. It was the 600th goal of the current Liga BBVA season

Some 10 minutes later the talismanic Lucas Perez made his presence felt for the umpteenth time this season. The Galician forward took the bull by the horns and set up Luis Alberto to level after a great piece of play. The Deportivo attacking midfielder positively walloped his finish past Ivan Cuellar between the posts for his fifth of the campaign.
Parity
There was nothing to choose between the two teams over the 90 minutes, with chances at both ends. It seemed like every time Perez had a pop, an Antonio Sanabria effort followed, yet no more goals were on the cards.
Sporting's upswing
Abelardo Fernandez's men were fresh off winning at Mestalla, the only team to do so in the league this term, before which they had thrashed Real Sociedad 5-1. The Asturians served up some fine football again against Deportivo and appear to have found their groove. The opposite is true of Victor Sanchez's side, who haven't won since 19 December.
