Albacete have only had to endure one year in the third tier. The La Mancha outfit put the icing on the cake after a superb season in Segunda Division B by defeating Valencia CF Mestalla in the promotion playoffs, ensuring that they rise straight back into LaLiga 1|2|3.
After Eloy's goal had given them a 1-0 in the first leg, in Valencia, Albacete knew that all they needed to do was defend their lead in front of their home fans at the Estadio Carlos Belmonte. Although they were made to sweat by the Los Che youngsters, in the end Jose Manuel Aira's men held firm to rubber-stamp their return to LaLiga 1|2|3.
Albacete, the winners of a fiercely competitive Group 2 in the regular season, had failed in their first attempt to go up, losing to Lorca FC in the champions' playoffs in May. However, they made no mistake second time round, first triumphing 3-2 on aggregate against CD Atletico Baleares before edging past the Valencians.
As a result, Albacete will contest their 21st LaLiga 1|2|3 campaign as from this coming August, being promoted from Segunda Division B alongside Lorca FC, Cultural y Deportiva Leonesa and FC Barcelona B.
One year further on... @AlbaceteBPSAD return to #LaLiga123!
