The LaLiga 1l2l3 leaders can boast being the seventh best team in all of the top European divisions in terms of goals conceded per game this season. After playing 15 matches, AD Alcorcon have let in just six and kept 12 clean sheets. Only Real Sporting, Nastic and CD Tenerife have managed to penetrate Los Alfareros' back line.
In Europe, the two teams to have conceded the fewest goals are Bulgaria's CSKA Sofia, who have only shipped five goals in 16 matches (0.31 goals per game), and Greek side PAOK (4 goals in 11 games; 0.36 goals per game). They are followed by Manchester City, Liverpool FC, Ajax and PSV on 0.38 goals per game. Next in line are AD Alcorcon with 0.4 goals conceded per game.
Coach Cristobal Parralo's defence which has been wowing the LaLiga 1l2l3 is based on experience. Three of the four players who have played the most game time in the Alcorcon back line, Bellvis, Laure and David Fernandez, were born in 1985 (33 years of age). However, these three experts are joined by one of LaLiga 1l2l3's revelations, Argentina's Esteban Burgos. The 26-year-old arrived last season, but this season has he really started to impress with his strength, work rate and also his goals (2).
Dani Jimenez, now in his fourth season for the club, is the goalkeeper who has made the most appearances for Alcorcon this term (13), although Raul Lizoain has also featured in three matches, keeping clean sheets in all of them.
The dreams of Alcorcon are most certainly being built on an impenetrable rearguard...
