A win sends Las Palmas top of the table

A top-of-the-table clash in Matchday 12 of La Liga Adelante between Girona FC and UD Las Palmas. Both sides had the chance to go top and at the end of a scintillating and open match, the team from the Canary Islands clinched it 2-1.

Guzmán Casaseca was his side's guiding light in the first half. The central midfielder scored after nine minutes, following a great team move, and found himself on the score sheet again only six minutes later, after a ball inside from Momo. With the game fast slipping away from them, Girona went on the attack. A top-drawer strike from Felipe Sanchón spurred Pablo Machín's side on.

Girona dominated at the beginning of the second half, as they tried to get on equal terms through both individual and collective efforts. They had the chance to do so with an 80th minute penalty, but Sanchón's shot was saved by Casto Espinosa. In the end Girona just couldn’t find the equalizer, leaving Las Palmas to claim top spot in La Liga Adelante.
