With just one more game to be played in matchday 25 in the Liga BBVA, we round up the best individual and team performances from the weekend. Alberto Bueno, Aritz Aduriz, Andoni Iraola, FC Barcelona, Sevilla FC and Valencia CF were the protagonists in a week which saw three teams maintain their impressive runs.

Alberto Bueno becomes top scoring Spaniard
Alberto Bueno was without a doubt the player of the weekend. The Rayo Vallecano forward managed to score four goals in a hectic 15-minute spell against Levante UD to give Paco Jémez’s side a 4-2 win. The goals make the Madrid-born footballer the top scoring Spaniard in the league, on 12 goals.

Imperious at home
Valencia beat Real Sociedad 2-0 to continue with their impressive run of victories at Mestalla. Nuno Espírito Santo’s side have not lost at home since 30 November 2014, when they were beaten 1-0 by Barcelona. Since then they have accumulated six straight wins at home, beating Rayo, Real Madrid, Almería, Sevilla, Getafe and Real Sociedad. Their imperious form at their stadium means that, along with Atlético Madrid, they are the team to have picked up most points at home: 34.

Sevilla still unbeaten at Sánchez Pizjuán
Another team that continues to be strong is Sevilla. Unai Emery’s side were not able to win this weekend as they were held to a goalless draw with Atlético madrid, but for one more week they managed to remain unbeaten at their Sánchez Pizjuán stadium. The Andalusians have not lost a single home game all season, the only team to do so. In total, Sevilla have racked up nine wins and four draws in their 13 home games, picking up a total of 31 points.

Barça hungry for goals on the road
Barcelona beat Granada 3-1 this weekend at Los Cármenes to continue their fine run away from home. Luis Enrique’s side have won four games on the trot away from the Camp Nou and have managed to score a lot of goals on their travels. Before this latest away victory, the Blaugranas had won at Deportivo (0-4), Elche (0-6) and Athletic (2-5).

Back-to-back wins for Athletic
Athletic Bilbao faced SD Eibar this weekend and came away with a 1-0 win. With this victory, the Basque side returned to secure two consecutive victories, building on their 1-0 win over Rayo last week. Athletic had not managed to string together two wins since November, when they beat Almería and Sevilla. What’s more, this game was a landmark game for the club’s legendary players. Aritz Aduriz reached his 300th game in the Liga BBVA, while Andoni Iraola made his 500th league appearance for Athletic.
