• El Molinón, home to Real Sporting de Gijón, is the oldest stadium in Spain. Although the exact year of its inauguration is unknown, the first documented reference to it dates back to 1908.
• For the first time in their history, Rayo Vallecano have got over the hurdle of four seasons in a row in la Liga BBVA.
• UD Las Palmas are back in the division, after a wait of 13 years.
• Getafe CF will experience their 12th campaign in a row in la Liga BBVA and are one of the clubs who have never been relegated from the division, with others such as Athletic Club, FC Barcelona and Real Madrid CF.
• Sergio González, of RCD Espanyol, will be the youngest manager in the division. Paco Herrera, of Las Palmas, will be the most veteran.
• Only four foreign managers will start the season: the Argentinians Diego Simeone (Atlético de Madrid) and Eduardo Berizzo (RC Celta de Vigo), the Scot David Moyes (Real Sociedad) and the Portuguese Nuno Espírito Santo (Valencia CF).
• With the promotion of Las Palmas, there will be a Canarian team for the first time since the 2009/10 season, when CD Tenerife were last in the division.
• Abelardo Fernández, of Sporting, will be the only manager to take his place on a la Liga BBVA bench for the first time.
• Andalusia (Sevilla FC, Real Betis Balompié, Málaga CF and Granada CF) and Madrid (Atlético, Real Madrid, Getafe and Rayo) will be the most represented regions.
• Betis come back up and this will be their 50th season in la Liga BBVA.
