LUN 08.07.2024

Several LALIGA EA SPORTS players are impressing at Euro 2024 and the Copa America, both of which have reached the semi-final stage, while Spanish clubs are busy in the transfer market. Here’s all you need to know.

RCD Mallorca sign Takuma Asano

Japan international Takuma Asano has signed with RCD Mallorca on a two-year deal. The winger becomes the fourth Japanese player in the history of the club, after Yoshito Ōkubo, Akihiro Ienaga and Takefusa Kubo.

Hugo Duro renews his Valencia CF contract

Following the best goalscoring season of his career, Hugo Duro has earned a new contract with Valencia CF. The centre-forward netted 13 goals in LALIGA EA SPORTS last season and has been rewarded with a new deal at Mestalla, one which will run until 2028.

Copa del Rey hero Álex Berenguer is staying in Bilbao

Athletic Club announced this past week that Álex Berenguer has agreed to a contract extension, with his new deal now running until 2027. This is welcome news for the Basque fanbase, as Berenguer was one of the Copa del Rey heroes this past season, scoring the winning penalty in the final.

Getafe CF bring in Peter Federico González

Peter Federico González has a new home, having completed a transfer from Real Madrid to Getafe CF. The 21-year-old winger, who spent the second half of last season with Valencia CF, will offer coach José Bordalás another option in the final third of the pitch.

Real Betis strengthen the squad

Real Betis have been busy this summer, as they’ve completed four signings already. The latest two are those of Adrián San Miguel, the 37-year-old goalkeeper who returns to his former club, and of Iker Losada, the 22-year-old winger who played every single one of Racing de Ferrol’s LALIGA HYPERMOTION games last season, scoring nine goals and providing seven assists.

Abel Bretones makes the step up to LALIGA EA SPORTS

After impressing with Real Oviedo over the past couple of seasons, left-back Abel Bretones will now have the chance to play at LALIGA EA SPORTS level, having completed a transfer to CA Osasuna. The versatile 23-year-old is the Pamplona-based club’s first signing of the summer.

Joseph Aidoo returns to training after injury

RC Celta centre-back Joseph Aidoo has returned to group training for the first time since his Achilles tendon injury, which he suffered last October. That is great news for the Galician club, given how important Aidoo has been for the team since he joined in 2019.

Every Euro 2024 semi-finalist has LALIGA representation

All three of the remaining teams have at least one LALIGA EA SPORTS player in their squads, with the likes of Jude Bellingham, Lamine Yamal and Nico Williams all standing out for their national teams.

The Copa America semi-finalists also have at least one LALIGA player each

The same is true in the 2024 Copa America, as each of the semi-finalists also have at least one LALIGA EA SPORTS player. In the final four, Cyle Larin’s Canada will take on the Argentina of Nahuel Molina, Rodrigo de Paul and co., while Johan Mojica’s Colombia will square off against the Uruguay of Ronald Araújo, José María Giménez and Federico Valverde.

Toni Kroos hangs up his boots

With Germany losing 2-1 to Spain at Euro 2024, exiting the tournament at the quarter-final stage, it means Toni Kroos has played the final game of his professional career. The Real Madrid midfielder announced before the summer tournament that he’d hang up his boots afterwards, and he retires as a six-time Champions League winner.
